Why bother

Reviews on TCR get read.

Unlike a star-rating in a review box buried on Google, your review here lives on the school's listing page for years — read by thousands of prospective teachers actively comparing courses.

Real impact

Our reviews are the #1 ranked result on Google for "tefl course reviews". A single detailed review can be read by hundreds of people per month for years.

🛡

Moderated, not manipulated

Every review is hand-moderated. Schools can reply, but they can't delete. Fake reviews get removed. That's why people trust us.

Quick & structured

Eight specific criteria (course content, practice teaching, job assistance, etc.) — no long essays needed unless you want to write one.

Guidelines

What makes a useful review.

The best reviews on TCR are the ones future teachers actually find helpful when they're deciding. Here's the shape of a great one.

Do Helpful

  • Describe the course content, structure, and pace
  • Mention specific trainers (by first name only) if they stood out
  • Talk about practice teaching: how much, what level, what feedback
  • Be honest about job assistance — did they actually help?
  • Mention pros and cons. The most trusted reviews aren't 10/10s.
  • Say who this course is good for ("first-time teachers", "experienced", "looking for visa", etc.)

Don't Removed

  • Use last names of staff or fellow trainees
  • Make accusations you can't substantiate
  • Submit on behalf of someone else, or write fake reviews
  • Copy & paste from another site (we cross-check)
  • Use offensive language or personal attacks
  • Include marketing links, phone numbers, or email addresses

Intensive four-week CELTA — exactly what I needed. The course covers grammar, methodology, classroom management and lesson planning in a sensible order, with eight hours of assessed teaching practice spread across the second half. Trainers (Maria and Jorge in my case) were experienced and gave detailed, written feedback within 24 hours. Practice classes were with real adult learners across pre-int / upper-int — felt like the real thing. The only weak spot was post-course job support; we got a list of email contacts but no active introductions. Worth it overall.
Tip: Reviews of 100-300 words score highest in our internal "helpful" rating from other readers. Be specific about what you did and how it went.
How moderation works

Every review is read by a human.

We never auto-approve. That's slower, but it's why our reviews are still trusted 17 years on.

1

You submit

Form lands in our moderation queue. You'll see a "thanks, awaiting review" message immediately.

2

We verify identity

We cross-check the IP, the email handle, and look for signs of plagiarism or fake submissions.

3

We check guidelines

Against our 9-point content checklist — last names removed, no marketing, no defamation, etc.

4

Published

Approved reviews go live within 3 working days. We'll email you a link when it's up.

FAQs

Common questions.

Will my real name appear on the review?
Only if you choose. The form lets you submit under your real name, your initials, or just "First name + last initial". We never publish your email, and we never sell it.
How long does moderation take?
Usually 1-3 working days. We may email you to clarify something if your review is unusually short, or contains potentially-libellous claims that need substantiating.
Can the school I'm reviewing see who I am?
No. The school will see the published review (with your chosen display name) but they don't see your email or any contact details. If you receive marketing from a school after reviewing, please let us know — it shouldn't happen.
Can the school reply to my review?
If they're a Featured School, yes — but only with a public reply, which appears beneath your review. They cannot delete or edit your review. You can also flag any reply you think is misleading.
What if I notice a fake or unfair review of my school?
If you're a school owner, claim your listing and flag the review from your dashboard. We'll re-review it. We take falsification seriously — being a fake-friendly platform would destroy 17 years of trust.
Can I edit my review after submitting?
Yes — email us within 30 days of publication and we'll update it. After 30 days reviews are considered locked, to keep the historical record honest.
